Giraffes have Purple tongues

Giraffes have purple tongues, and for good reasons too, says my source.

Since they eat leaves off trees all day in the hot African sun, their tongues need to be protected in order to prevent skin cancers from forming, so after centuries of evolution they have developed the perfect tongues to handle the harsh conditions they encounter.

My source is quite reliable, so I trust that this is all true.
